Covid-19 hit Italian Serie A

Italian Serie A: Cristiano and Zlatan show impressive levels after recovering from Covid-19

Italian Serie A is Humming Along

Italian Serie A has not Been Exempt From Covid-19

The Covid-19 pandemic has hit the world hard and sports stars and figures have not been an exception to this virus. Italian Serie A was no different. Players and coaches from many different leagues have been infected in the past few months, and thankfully, all of them have been able to resist, adapt and get better.

However there are two specific recent cases that have shocked the world and that are just a great example of two veterans who are on a whole other level physically and mentally, and they both now play in the Italian Serie A, we’re talking about Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The fact that only 6 games have been played so far in the Serie A season, that they both got infected when the season was already started, and that they are still leading the league in goal scoring regardless of missing a few games due to the virus, is just straight awesome. Zlatan Ibrahimovic is 39 years old and he even already retired once from European football and left to the MLS, but then came back and has helped AC Milan be the best they have been in many years.

Zlatan got infected with Covid-19 a few weeks ago but quickly overcame the illness. He quickly turned to Social Media to say that “Coronavirus challenged him and lost”, and then came back and just kept scoring goals as if nothing ever happened. Now the Swedish superstar leads the league in scoring with a total of 7 goals, plus add 1 assist to that.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s case is even more recent, the Portuguese attacker, winner of 5 Ballon D’or awards in his career, had to miss a couple of weeks of activity, and even lost the chance to face Lionel Messi in the UEFA Champions League match against Barcelona in Turin. He was quarantined in his house and kept training by himself, he did the test and tested positive twice, but then tested negative on the third try.

He quickly let his fans know, and Andrea Pirlo called him right back for his next game, against Spezia in Serie A. Ronaldo started the game on the bench, and went in in the 56th minute, for Dybala. Only 3 minutes after he scored, and then did it again on the 76th minute with a Panenka-style penalty. Two goals for Juve’s superstar, who Pirlo called the “heart and soul” of the team, right after the game.

Both of these cases show us how amazingly prepared and focused Ibrahimovic and Cristiano are, how seriously they take their career and just how they are both on a whole different level, where just a few can claim to be at. We’re talking about veterans that have nothing else to prove in their teams or careers, but that are just natural-born winners.

We are truly privileged to be able to see them both, along with others that have been around in our generation, like Messi, Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Kaka, the same Pirlo, and a few more that have confirmed football as the most followed sport in the whole world.
