But on defense they have a problem vs.Philly ground game

Are the New York Giants a train wreck? Or are they about to be reborn with a new offensive coordinator? Those are appropriate questions for BetOnline.ag customers to ponder.

It does appear as if the Philadelphia Eagles have gotten some new life by taking a different approach. And there is no reason to believe they are going to change anything as they get set to visit the Meadowlands for an AFC East encounter that takes place at 1 PM ET on Sunday.

Let’s begin this story with Jason Garrett….

After a 30-10 loss to Tampa Bay on Monday night, head coach Joe Judge was fuming. It wasn’t exactly well-concealed that he was launching some criticisms at his team’s offensive game plan and play-calling. And that meant Garrett, who spent nine years as the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys, then got hired to the Giants’ staff after his firing.

And the next day, Garrett was out of a job. According to online sportsbooks, Criticism came from all corners. He wasn’t imaginative. He didn’t put the playmakers in position to make plays. He was entirely predictable on first down. He was stuck in the 90’s.

Kitchens will take the heat now

Taking over the job is Freddy Kitchens, who was at one time the interim offensive coordinator in Cleveland and then the head coach. In that single season, there were huge expectations for the Browns. But Kitchens got fired after going 6-10.

His objective with this team will be to get the ball into the hands of some people who have been neglected. One of those is Kenny Golladay, who some on the staff consider their best receiver. His over-under in Prop Builder at betAnySports is 51.5 receiving yards. And Judge certainly wants him to exceed it.

Here are the numbers…..

Pro football betting odds at BetOnline.ag have the Eagles as the road favorites in this game:

  • Philadelphia Eagles -3.5
  • New York Giants +3.5

  • Over 45.5 points -110
  • Under 45.5 points -110

Eagles aren’t flying, but that’s not all bad

Pro Football Betting Preview- Giants Hope to Show New Offensive Look to EaglesFirst-year head coach Nick Sirianni decided at some point to go very heavy with the ground game. He already had Jalen Hurts, who could spearhead a rushing attack from the QB spot. But it’s been more than that. The “committee”has consisted of Jordan Howard (now on IR), Boston Scott and Miles Sanders.  And they are getting a tremendous burst on a regular basis from the offensive line.

They have averaged 217.7 rush yards the last four games. And a lot of that happens before contact, which means they are blowing people off the ball. And this takes a lot of pressure off Hurts, who isn’t the guy whose arm they want to depend on.

Last week they were playing the Saints, who were allowing just 3.1 yards per carry. And they had a season-high 242 yards. In other words, something’s working. And the Eagles are in the thick of the race for the third NFC wild card with a 5-6 record.

In conclusion

We’re sure that Kitchens and the Giants will present some things that will surprise the Eagles. But when you look at the Giants on the other side of the football, you’re looking at a team that gets very little penetration. In fact, their “Stuff Rate,” measuring plays they stop for a loss or no gain, is 29th in the NFL.

So it’s entirely possible that the Eagles can do what they want to do. Shredding the Saints’ defense like they did is a telling sign. And because they seemed fully capable of fulfilling their agenda here, we’re laying the points.
