FIFA Announces Proposed Loan Restrictions
FIFA proposed loan restrictions that will take effect next season. The new regulations will allow clubs eight loan deals each season. It will be both in and out of the club. The total number of loan deals will decrease to six in the 2022-2023 season.
Initially, it will only apply to international loans of players aged 22 years old and above. At present, Chelsea has 28 players out on loan. Fifteen of the players are 22 years old and above. However, the proposal still needs the approval of the FIFA Council.
The new regulations will ensure that loans have a valid purpose for developing youth players. FIFA will give individual leagues a period of three years to implement the rules for domestic loan contracts. The Premier League will be one of the most affect leagues if FIFA applies the new rules.
Proposed Loan Restrictions
According to sportsbook pay per head reports, the Premier League allows clubs up to two players on loan at any time. Also, clubs can register a maximum of four loans in one season. However, the club can’t sign more than one player from the same team at any time.
However, the Premier League doesn’t restrict the number of players that a club can loan out to other teams. That’s why Chelsea has 28 players out on loan.
Aside from loan restrictions, FIFA also wants to ban domestic matches overseas. That rule can affect many leagues, including La Liga. La Liga told sports news outlets that overseas games are part of their long-term plan. However, FIFA wants domestic fixtures to take place on the territory of the member organization.
Another proposal is a one percent tax on all transfer fees that will fund clubs who develop players via youth academies. Consultation on training expenses will start before the plan goes to the FIFA Council.
