His objective with this team will be to get the ball into the hands of some people who have been neglected. One of those is Kenny Golladay, who some on the staff consider their best receiver. And they are getting a tremendous burst on a regular basis from the offensive line.
They have averaged 217.7 rush yards the last four games. And a lot of that happens before contact, which means they are blowing people off the ball. And this takes a lot of pressure off Hurts, who isn’t the guy whose arm they want to depend on.
Last week they were playing the Saints, who were allowing just 3.1 yards per carry. And they had a season-high 242 yards. In other words, something’s working. And the Eagles are in the thick of the race for the third NFC wild card with a 5-6 record.
In conclusion
We’re sure that Kitchens and the Giants will present some things that will surprise the Eagles. But when you look at the Giants on the other side of the football, you’re looking at a team that gets very little penetration. In fact, their “Stuff Rate,” measuring plays they stop for a loss or no gain, is 29th in the NFL.
So it’s entirely possible that the Eagles can do what they want to do. Shredding the Saints’ defense like they did is a telling sign. And because they seemed fully capable of fulfilling their agenda here, we’re laying the points.
